The year of service and self-evaluation; what do want out of the this year? We all want to ‘do better’ and ‘be better’ in our own ways, but what does that really mean? Well, my goal is to figure that out, and once I do, act on it. Over the years, I have become madly obsessed with TEDx Talks, and I will YouTube myself mad to get in as many as I can in one sitting. In my most resent Ted-hunt, I discovered Brené Brown and Adam Baker, who addressed vulnerability and freedom.
I was very much intrigued with how Brené talked about allowing ourselves to be openly imperfect and vulnerable in order to experience true ‘connection’ with self and the world we live in. Varying emotional states of ‘being’ cause us to retract from living our best lives and experiencing our best life in LOVE (and as she explains, our society is numbing). When you think about the idea of opening up and being who you are authentically, it is extremely daring. But to embrace this concept is profoundly courageous and life changing.
Adam addressed what freedom means to us individually. What would it mean for you to have your freedom? And don’t tell me you’re free…more than likely, the freedom you think exists, truly does not. We all seem to be slaves to SOME thing. Is your freedom living without debt? Not being responsible for others? Relocating to the Himalaya’s for a year of sabbatical? Or does it simply mean being free to express yourself openly and courageously without fear and remorse? You decide.
